I am majoring in Public Health with an emphasis in Health Promotion. My expected graduation date is August 2010 and upon completion of my undergraduate, I intend to serve in the Peace Corps.
I am greatly interested in the topic of Health Disparities due to its’ overarching spread of individuals affected. Health disparities can result in decreased quality of life, worsened health outcomes, and premature death. I believe that existing health disparities can be minimized, and one day eliminated, through the act of public health initiatives and community support. My desire in writing about this topic is to not only educate and inform the public about the existing health disparities that are present in the United States, but to promote action in the effort to eliminate these existing health disparities.

I came across your blog while researching other relevant blogs to the one I manage. Our blog touches on health disparities as well and I wanted to know if you had any pieces on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders. It would be great to get another blogger’s perspective especially one from someone looking to get into public health.
